THURSDAY 6 JUNE
Workshop: 3pm – 5.00 pm
Public Reading: 5.30 pm
Join Tongues & Grooves in the Community and Journeys Festival International for a free poetry workshop with poet Robyn Bolam, exploring themes of home, hope and journeys. Taking inspiration from poems written by members of Portsmouth’s refugee and asylum-seeking community, the workshop is suitable for all levels of experience, whether you’re an award-winning writer or a complete beginner.
The workshop will take place 3pm – 5pm at Cosham Library, Portsmouth with a public reading by Robyn Bolam at 5.30pm. There will be an opportunity for poems written during the workshop to be exhibited during Journeys Festival International, 18– 27 October.
Robyn Bolam writes about surviving in difficult circumstances, love and loss, change in the natural world and places and societies. She is originally from Northumberland but now lives and works in Hampshire and is the Hampshire Poet.
Community Conversations is a project which explores how poetry can facilitate conversations across communities. A selection of poems written by members of the refugee and asylum-seeking community will be touring to libraries around Portsmouth until September 2019. Keep an eye on our website for exhibition dates and upcoming workshops.
