Welcome to our first show of 2020: SnowQ – a troubled fairy tale for troubled times.
A collaborative project inspired by The Snow Queen story by Hans Christian Andersen through poetry, film and performance. Snow Q re-imagines this richly symbolic story as a vehicle for exploring contemporary issues: loneliness and social isolation, mental health, gender, sexuality, migration and exile. Quintessentially European, familiar to both British and Polish audiences, and providing the opportunity to challenge older and younger audiences with new responses to a familiar story.
Written by Maria Jastrzebska
Directed by Mark C. Hewitt
Performers: Rita Suszek and Maria Ziolkowska
Music: Peter Copley
Film: Wendy Pye
