Community Conversations: October 2018

big lottery hi_big_e_lrg_blue-2Tongues&Grooves in the Community has received a Big Lottery grant of £10,000 for a its Community Conversations project.

The grant will enable us to give a voice to refugee and asylum seeker individuals in Portsmouth through a series of poetry workshops. Further events will form part of the ArtReach led Journeys Festival International (JFI) in October.

A transportable display of the writing in printed and audio formats will be created following the Festival to create a legacy for the project. This will allow us to connect with communities and individuals who didn’t attend the event and who may not fully understand the experiences of refugees and asylum seekers.

This aspect of the project will be supported by talks and workshops, with the opportunity for people to write responses that can be shared on Tongues and Grooves’ website and at the Journeys Festival International in 2019.
